Smt Hema Maliniji, Member of Parliament from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh constituency is a renowned actor and accomplished classical dancer has been associated with VISION 2020 – INDIA for a long time. In the midst of her exacting schedule, Smt Hema Maliniji has always found time to support our cause. Her presence at various events – be it the annual conference or global awareness day like the World Sight Day – has always been a source of inspiration and encouragement for VISION 2020 – India. And where her professional commitments have kept her away, she has shared her messages for our events.

Hema Malini needs no introduction to the film goers of Hindi cinema. Known as the ‘Dream Girl’ of Bollywood, Hema Malini in her acting career spanning 40years acted in over 150 films.
Hema Chakravarty was born into a Tamil speaking Iyengar brahmin family in Ammankudi, Tiruchirappalli, TamilNadu to V.S. Ramanujam Chakravarthy and Jaya Chakravarthy on 16 October 1948. Beyond acting, Hema Malini is also an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer-choreographer, director and producer and a politician.
She made her acting debut in Sapno Ka Saudagar (1968). She then went on to appear in numerous Bollywood films and is among the most successful female film stars in the history of Indian cinema. She has starred in a large number of successful films, and her performances in both commercial and art house cinema, were often recognised.
Hema Malini is a trained Bharatanatyam artist. She is also trained in Kuchipudi by Vempati Chinna Satyam and Odissi by Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra.
